We’re ending our series of @yellowstone cocktails with a character we just can’t make up our mind about… is he friend or foe to the Dutton family? Is he fighting for the land and his people or his own power? We’re talking about Thomas Rainwater, and while we may not know where his loyalty lies, he definitely plays an important role in the series. His main goal from the start is to obtain and return the Yellowstone to its’ people, and he has played both sides to achieve this. And if this is truly what his objectives are, we think we have picked his cocktail perfectly. We are calling this beauty “Rainwater’s Roots”. He had no idea about his heritage until obtaining his adoption records at 18, but boy did he come back to fight for his people. This cocktail mixes Applejack (a liquor made from apples that tastes sort of like an apple whisky) with cinnamon syrup , lemon juice, apple cider and bitters. Elements that we find very earthy but upbeat and strong with hints of apple sweetness. Try this as we head into the fall season (it’s that time, right?!) – it’s perfect for that first bit of crisp cool weather and the changing colors of the trees.
How to: In a shaker, combine all ingredients with ice. Shake and serve in a coupe. Garnish with apple slices and cinnamon bark.
