Champagne, Coupe, Gin,Let’s go for a ride… on a Champagne Supernova in the sky This song by Oasis takes us right back to the 90’s and puts a big ol’ smile on our face. It’s one of those you can hear after 10 years and still sing every word. When you think about the word “supernova” you want to go big, and there isn’t a much bolder cocktail than a negroni (it’s also #negroniweek so that works out!).
We took off down a little different path with this beauty and added 1oz each of gin and sweet vermouth but went for Aperol instead of Campari to bring down the bitterness a smidge. We then added 1oz of a sweetened blood orange juice (equal parts sugar and fresh juice) and topped with, you guessed it, champagne! Tradition told us to keep it all at equal parts but we say go with it and add as much champs as you want .
So sip along and maybe “someday you’ll find me, caught beneath the landslide, in a Champagne Supernova in the sky”. Dream on!
To make: Combine all ingredients other than champagne in a shaker with ice. Shake and serve in a coupe. Top with champagne and add one large ice cube. Garnish with blood orange.
